SEDIMENTARY ROCK

Joe found himself buried by new pieces of rock and dirt just like him.  He couldn't see the outside world any more and this made Joe very sad.   This pattern of new dirt depositing on top of Joe continued for thousands of years.  Joe started to feel a lot of pressure on him from all the weight of the dirt above.  Another thing Joe noticed was that he was not alone any more.  He was being pressed into his neighbors and actually sticking together.  He thought this was very interesting indeed and he wondered what was happening.  He finally asked his neighbor and the reply was interesting. Joe found out that he was becoming cemented and compacted together.  When this happens it forms what is called a sedimentary rock.  "Hmmmmm"Joe thought.  "Sedimentary, I was a sediment from the stream that joined other sediments and became a sedimentary rock".   This made sense..
